Treatment

My approaches to promoting wellbeing are cognitive behaviour therapy, solution focused brief therapy and emotionally focused therapy for couples:

Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is effective for many psychological problems (e.g., depression, anxiety, addictions, eating disorder), which is scientifically supported in many clinical settings. CBT is based on real life situations and problems, and focuses on solutions as opposed to subconscious processes. The treatment helps participants understand and improve the relationship between feelings, behaviour and thinking as these relate to an existing and relevant problem. Its structure helps the client learn and use the method quickly. By its very nature, CBT is practical and helps a client’s self-directed activities in his/her own life.

Solution focused brief therapy (SFBT) is a goal-directed collaborative approach to psycho therapeutic change that is conducted through direct observation of clients' responses to a series of precisely constructed questions. SFBT focuses on addressing what clients want to achieve exploring the history and provenance of problem(s). SF therapy sessions typically focus on the present and future, focusing on the past only to the degree necessary for communicating empathy and accurate understanding of the client's concerns

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is a structured approach to couples therapy formulated in the 1980's and has developed alongside the science on adult attachment and bonding to expand our understanding about what is happening in couple relationships and to guide therapists.  EFT is also used with families and individuals.
